Starset – The Future Is Now

“This will be the final cure, I am gonna take the past away”

Starset is a band which has started in 2014. Its mission is to spread ‘the message’ to protect humanity. Their music style is electronic, and it sounds really good. Their lyrics are quite strong as well. We’ve already talked about them in both of our 2014 reviews, but now we’ll criticize their first song, which will be The Future Is Now.

Lyrics

They said there was no way

But they forgot the black hole in the sky

Yesterday is nothing

I have half a life to rewrite

Flying into this future

I will let the science bring the change

This will be the final cure

I am gonna take the past away

With the full force

Of a dying star

I will find you

If you’re near or far

Wherever you are

Wherever you are

Wherever you are

Wherever you are

Floating through forever

I am stealing the energy

Endlessly endeavour

This is finding infinity

I’m falling through a dark sunrise

I will escape the entropy

And find a way to leave this time

I will bring you back to me

With the full force

Of a dying star

I will find you

If you’re near or far

Wherever you are

Wherever you are

Wherever you are

Wherever you are

Wherever you are

Wherever you are

Opinion Daniël

The start of this song is quite calm, after that it has much more energy. The part which I really liked was the piano part at around three minutes. All by all it’s just a very good song.

The Future Is Now isn’t one of my favourite songs of them. It’s a good song, but I think they have better ones. The vocals part at the beginning is very good, although the refrain may be a bit boring because they repeat ‘wherever you are’ four times. They always have a musical part after the vocals part, but this is one of the songs where I don’t like that second part.

Opinion Timothy

I like the start of the song. It has a nice rhythm. Unfortunately the song got a bit boring after a while. After that it suddenly has a part with vocals and hard music, but this is only for around twenty seconds. After that there’s only music and that’s unfortunate. They could’ve make much more from those last fifty seconds.

Overall: 8,3

The Future Is Now comes in 8th place out of 26 in the ranking at the moment.
