Rise Against – I Don’t Want to Be Here Anymore

“Your paradise is something I’ve endured”

It’s been a while since we’ve posted something from Rise Against, so here we go again. I Don’t Want to Be Here Anymore was the first single of their new album The Black Market, which is released this year. The reactions on the song differed a lot. Some people said that it was a great song, while others said that it was an awful song, especially for such a band. And what do we think? Take a look! And don’t forget to give it an opinion by yourself, to see with which group you agree.

Lyrics

On pins and needles we are waiting for the fall

We count the days scratching lines on the wall

Wait in the wings at someone’s back and call

No longer recognize the place that I call home

No longer recognize this face as my own

Somewhere, this fate, I lose control

We backed down

We took no answers far too long

We felt those walls close around

I don’t wanna be here anymore

I don’t wanna be here anymore

I don’t wanna be here anymore

I know there’s nothing left worth staying for

Your paradise is something I’ve endured

See I don’t think I can fight this anymore

I’m listening with one foot out the door

And something has to die to be reborn

I don’t wanna be here anymore

On hand and foot we answered every single call

And weathered every day like passing storms

But when they break we will all be gone

Won’t back down

Won’t take no answers anymore

These walls close

We pace back and forth

I don’t wanna be here anymore

I know there’s nothing left worth staying for

Your paradise is something I’ve endured

See I don’t think I can fight this anymore

I’m listening with one foot out the door

But something has to die to be reborn

I don’t wanna be here anymore

The point where we break

Gets closer every day

But where do we go?

But where do we go?

I don’t wanna be here anymore

I don’t wanna be here anymore

I don’t wanna be here anymore

I know there’s nothing left worth staying for

Your paradise is something I’ve endured

See I don’t think I can fight this anymore

I’m listening with one foot out the door

But something has to die and reborn

And I don’t wanna be here anymore, anymore

Opinion Daniël

I really like this song and it has a good rhythm. It’s one of the better songs I’ve heard, but it doesn’t make it to the absolute top.

Opinion Justin

Yes, I’ve heard better songs by Rise Against. But you can’t say this is a bad song. You may not like it a lot, but it’s not bad at all. I like to listen it. The lyrics may be a bit depressive but I don’t think they actually are depressive. I think they’re actually quite good and it’s also great to see that Rise Against write such lyrics, about subjects which people prefer to avoid.

Opinion Timothy

I like this song and it has a good speed, I can hear it many times before it starts to become annoying. The only negative point about this song is that there isn’t a big difference between the refrain en the couplets. When the refrain was a bit more spectacular it would’ve been one of my favourite songs. Now it doesn’t make it to the top.

I Don’t Want to Be Here Anymore comes in 5th place out of eleven in the ranking at the moment.
